About Us
Our blog consists of four students hoping to become
Engineers. We are hoping to explore more about our field and convey that
knowledge to the public. The team includes Pat, Danny, DJ, and Jim. Not all of
us are looking to earn the same type of engineering degree so we will all be
coming from slightly different perspectives. We’ll discuss broad topics about
the engineering field in general, as well as focus on each of our individual
perspectives. We'll each start by providing a short introduction about
ourselves.
My name is Pat Wilkinson; I am a freshman at
Michigan State University studying mechanical engineering. I am from the
infamous town of Cadillac, MI. As a kid I played every sport I could, and have
always been a huge fan of the Spartans. I was first introduced to the world of
engineering at a very young age. My dad, who is also an engineer, was my
inspiration to following a similar path. As a kid, he would give me projects to
do, such as tearing apart a single cylinder engine, and putting it all back
together. As I got older, we collaboratively worked on bigger projects, like
restoring a 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass. All of this experience not only inspired
me to become an engineer, but I believe it has also put me a step ahead of
most. Engineering is the basis of technology and the future, and is something
everyone should be familiar with.
My name is Danny Thomas and I’m also a
freshman at Michigan State. I’m hoping to major in environmental engineering.
The environment hasn’t really been a huge passion for me necessarily, but I do
believe Climate Change is an important issue to deal with in the near future.
For me, I chose Engineering specifically because I enjoy learning about science
and how we can use it to solve some of the world’s problems. At the heart of all
the different engineering fields you could boil it down to problem solving
skills, critical thinking, and applying scientific concepts to real world
issues and those definitely appealed to me when selecting my major. I’ve been a
Spartans athletics fan since I was ten years old so I was thrilled to be
accepted to this university. I have always loved to follow sports.
Currently, my favorites to watch are hockey, football, soccer, and baseball.
My name is DJ, I'm
currently attending Michigan State and majoring in Engineering(non-specific).
Even though I don't know a lot about engineering, I heard it
was difficult. It seems like a major that I will be more than happy
with it. I like to watch sports especially basketball and football. I played
basketball and football throughout my whole life and I really enjoyed it. I
hope you will like our blog and learn something new from it!
